Insurance telling you to replace your electrical panel?
Insurers across the North Bay are refusing to renew policies on homes with older panels now considered a fire risk. If you got that letter, you are not being scammed and you are not alone. These are the brands most commonly flagged:

What electrical services do you provide?
Repairs and troubleshooting, lighting, outlets, switches and new circuits, panel upgrades and service changes, EV charger installation, and full electrical for remodels and new construction. We work on residential, commercial and agricultural properties.
How do I know if I need an upgrade?
Common signs: breakers that trip regularly, lights that flicker or dim, warm or discolored panel covers, a fuse box instead of breakers, or knob-and-tube and other old wiring. You'll also need more capacity if you're adding an EV charger, heat pump, hot tub or an addition. We'll tell you honestly if what you have is fine for now.
How much does an electrical panel upgrade cost?
It depends on things we can actually point to: the size of the new service, where the panel sits, whether the meter or mast has to move, what PG&E requires at your address, and the condition of your grounding.
What we will not do is quote a number over the phone and change it on the day. We look at the panel, explain what it needs, and put the price in writing before we start.
My insurance company says my panel has to be replaced. Can you help?
Yes, and it's a large part of what we do. We replace the panel, pull the permit, coordinate with the utility, meet the inspector, and give you documentation you can send straight back to your insurer. Text us a photo of the panel and the letter and we'll tell you what you're dealing with.
Do you pull permits?
Yes. A panel upgrade requires a permit and an inspection. Anyone who offers to skip it is handing you a problem you'll pay for later.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. Del Oro Electric holds California C-10 electrical contractor license #1154735 and carries insurance. You can verify any California contractor's license at the CSLB website.
